Pupils at The Ramsey Academy have launched a new and exciting way to raise funds for a charity close to their hearts. The students at the secondary school in Halstead, Essex, have teamed up with local company Recycle Ink to collect empty ink jet printer cartridges from their homes and families. In return, Recycle Ink will donate up to £1.50 per cartridge to Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (see website for more details on accepted cartridges). The project offers a free, easy and environmentally friendly way to raise extra funds. At present, it is estimated that 7 out of 10 people throw their empties in the bin- that's a staggering 375 million cartridges going to landfill every year. If you use a Canon or HP printer at home, please check the Recycle Ink's website and see if you could help. Cartridges can either be dropped at the school or sent directly to the Boxford-based company in the name of EHAAT.
